“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.” - Kurt Vonnegut

The Beatles <3

I grew up listening to The Beatles… in the 90s. Hahaha. I’d have to say that they must be one of the most well known bands of all time. Just after typing that sentence, I googled “What is the most well known band of all time?” and almost all the answers I could find said ‘The Beatles”! I then found more information saying that they are ‘the best-selling band in history’. So yes, they were an extremely influential band, making more hits in ten years than most artists make in 2 lifetimes. They received 7 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award, among many other awards.

But basically, I just like them!

"The things is, we're all really the same person. We're just four parts of the one." - Paul McCartney

"Reality leaves a lot to the imagination." - John Lennon

"There's a woman in the United States who predicted the plane we were traveling on would crash. Now, a lot of people would like to think we were scared into saying a prayer. What we did actually--we drank." - Ringo Starr

"The Beatles saved the world from boredom." - George Harrison

"I declare that the Beatles are mutants. Prototypes of evolutionary agents sent by God, endowed with a mysterious power to create a new human species, a young race of laughing freemen." - Timothy Leary

"You're all geniuses, and you're all beautiful. You don't need anyone to tell you who you are. You are what you are. Get out there and get peace, think peace, and live peace and breathe peace, and you'll get it as soon as you like." - John Lennon

“I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird.” - Paul McCartney

"I've never been able to sit round on my own and play drums, practice in the back room, never been able to. I've always played with other musicians. It's how I play, there's no joy for me in playing on my own, bashing away. I need a bass, a piano, guitar, whatever, and then I can play." - Ringo Starr

“It's being here now that's important. There's no past and there's no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now. We can gain experience from the past, but we can't relive it; and we can hope for the future, but we don't know if there is one.” - George Harrison

"I'd like to end up sort of... unforgettable." - Ringo Starr

“If someone thinks that peace and love are just a cliche that must have been left behind in the 60s, that's a problem. Peace and love are eternal.” - John Lennon

“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.” - Kurt Vonnegut

I Want To Hold Your Hand – 1964 (Live)

“You know the reason The Beatles made it so big?…’I Wanna Hold Your Hand.’ First single. Fucking brilliant. Perhaps the most fucking brilliant song ever written. Because they nailed it. That’s what everyone wants. Not 24/7 hot wet sex. Not a marriage that lasts a hundred years. Not a Porsche…or a million-dollar crib. No. They wanna hold your hand. They have such a feeling that they can’t hide. Every single successful song of the past fifty years can be traced back to ‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand.’ And every single successful love story has those unbearable and unbearably exciting moments of hand-holding.”  ―    David Levithan,    Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist
